Not only do you need to step into your persona and have the confidence to really take on the world and let your brilliance shine, but you want to make sure you stand out from the crowd.
Here is a little secret that I want to share with you. One of the best ways to stand out in this crowded marketplace is to be known for something. You see, there are so many people out there simply relying on just being their job title. They are a “business coach” or an “author”. They are the ones who just state what they do such as “Virtual Assistant” or “copywriter”. Do you want to know the problem with this?
You are lumped in with every other person in your field. You will be compared to every other person with the same job title or who provides the same service. You will be lumped in with the mediocre people who do what you do. However, you can change this by creating your own unique place in the market.
I chose to go full superhero and completely went for it. I made my persona, I put it out there and I owned it. Now when I do anything I just go for it, but I know that some people want to be a little subtler about it and that is ok too.
You can be known for something without going full superhero. In fact, you can be known for just about anything, a technique you created, a specialty that you offer or just the type of people you work with. No matter what you choose, you need to make sure you pick something which has room to grow with time and reflects your personality.
We come back to picking what will suit you, not solely where the money is. For example, there were a lot of people that saw there was money to be made by teaching people how to use social media to promote their business.
So they set out to be an expert in this and they built a name around it. However, after a while, the market was flooded with people claiming they could do the same thing so they had to change what they did. But the problem was, they were known as a social media expert, so they needed to rebrand. This is hard to do and if you change too often you start to lose credibility around what you are doing.
However, if you step up as someone that people are intrigued with, you have room to change directions and fill gaps in the market because people want to learn from you.
They will be fascinated with what you are doing next, they will love your style and they will know what to expect. Think of it like when you are looking for a movie to watch and you have the choice of two films.
One has an actor whose work you enjoy and the other one has good reviews but you don’t know anyone in it. Which one do you pick? Probably the one with the actor you like, because chances are, you will enjoy it. This is the same reason why people will choose to stick with you. They love the work you do, they feel like they’re a part of your life and they know, like and trust you.
How do you go about creating a larger than life persona that people want to be around? You be yourself, just a super version of you. You share your life, your thoughts, your work and most of all your personality. You be real, it’s not about making stuff up about yourself because people will see through that quickly. It is about being the best version of you that you can be.
This is when you strap on your cape, step into your super persona and begin to do what you do best, moving forward step by step.
With each day that passes, it gets easier, you become more confident and you own your superhero persona because you just know that it is you. All of you! The best bits, the quirks, the flaws, the passion, and the natural abilities. Your smile shines bright, your brilliance is obvious for everyone to see and finally you feel like you have made it!
Don’t just take my word for it. Try it out yourself. Nothing beats going out and testing all of this. Pay attention to the people around you and see if you can spot the ones who are embracing their inner superheroes, look for the ones who are being drained every day because they have lost their passion and pay attention to the traits both display. You have those traits too – both the good and the bad. The difference is, you know that you have a choice as to what you want to do with them.
What will that be?
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers, you cannot be successful or happy.”
~Norman Vincent Peale
